Established in 1982, QED Environmental designs and manufactures environmental monitoring and remediation equipment. The company has recently joined Made in the Midlands (MIM), trade association championing British industry and connecting manufacturers. QED aims to network with businesses and raise their profile by anchoring Made in Group’s online presence.

As industry leaders, QED are the premier manufacturers of monitoring and remediation equipment, precision engineering pumping solutions and gas instrumentation. The firm has been based in Coventry since 2018, employs more than 60 people and trades with over 60 countries, making them well equipped to share best practice on a range of topics with the 400+ manufacturing members of the Made in Group.

Dean Kavanagh, Managing Director of QED Environmental, decided to join Made in the Midlands, because he believes the group focuses solely on raising the profile of manufacturers and prioritises connecting business leaders. This is portrayed through the group's digital advancements such as the updates to the microsites, the website's strong SEO presence and introduction of Virtual Breakfast Mornings - making networking events accessible to everyone.

Dean said: “The Made in Group stands out as a manufacturing organisation because the events are about industry leaders sharing best practices. The core values of the group - which I believe to be promoting the Midlands and Yorkshire as centres of excellence in manufacturing, are inline with what QED also believe in, and we want to ensure we are part of that.”

Dean believes now is an important time to drive the UK quality brand, especially due to challenges being faced as a result of Brexit and economic issues brought on by the pandemic.

He continued: “We found out about the Made in Group through the engagement and publicity on Linkedin, which is something I think the sector needs  to do as a whole. The UK manufacturing brand still has a well respected reputation across the world and we need to continue to advocate our capabilities and successes”.

QED is hoping to connect with  businesses who supply to different markets in order to learn and share best practice with them. As a business that is committed to lean manufacturing, they are looking to build relationships with manufacturers who are achieving technical sales rather than a commodity based sell. Dean concluded:

“We have a state of the art facility and we look forward to welcoming our fellow MIM to our premises.”
